18th May 2018 - Year 11 Study Leave

Dear Parent / Carer,

Study Leave

Our Year 11 students continue to work hard to complete their GCSE examinations. As you are aware, some students are coming to the end of their studies, therefore study leave can be granted. Study leave will only begin when Heads of Department have confirmed that pupils have completed any controlled assessment or BTEC assignments.

Your child might still have exams for certain subjects therefore they must attend timetabled lessons in these subjects as normal until they have sat their exam. The final lessons for the courses they are studying are vital in preparation for these examinations. These lessons enable staff to reinforce the main aspects of the course content and also to clarify any misconceptions that may have arisen in students’ final revision schedule. Subject teachers will continue to organise period six revision sessions which your child will be informed of and expected to attend.

Students are to sign in and out of school when they arrive for lessons or for examinations by reporting to Student Reception.

Your child should carry the attached card when travelling to and from school as proof of study leave should this be requested by any authorities.

Leavers Service

All students are invited to a special Leavers Service in the Hall on Friday 15th June at 11:30 after their last exam. Students can bring a spare shirt with them should they wish to autograph them at the end. The assembly will run from 11:30-12:00 at the latest. As always, the high standards of behaviour we expect from our students are to be maintained on this day.

Year 11 Prom

Please find details of the arrangements for the School Prom to be held on Friday 29th June 2018. The Prom will take place at The Midland Hotel, Manchester. Pre-dinner drinks will be from 7:00pm and dinner will start at 7.30pm. There will be soft drinks available for your child to purchase. Pupils are responsible for their own transport arrangements with the prom ending at 11.30pm.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish students continued success in their exams and look forward to sharing their success with them on Results Day on Thursday 23rd August at 10 am. Thank you for your continued support.

Yours faithfully,

Mr S White
